Role Overview & Responsibilities

Full time, permanent


Based in High Wycombe, HP12 3QS



We are recruiting for a Chemistry Technician to join our Premier Analytical Services site in High Wycombe. The main purpose of the role will be to perform analytical tests required to ensure that raw materials and products meet specification, are legal and are comply with the agreed standard.



What you'll be doing:

Food Safety & Quality Management


Log samples, collect data, make measurements and take action following the set guidelines.


Carry out ELISA based allergen testing, operating all relevant equipment.


Relates own tasks to the delivery of Premier Foods Quality Management goals.



Compliance


Perform required measurements and interpret findings.


Carry out activities in accordance with internally approved protocols.



Product & Raw Material Expertise


Sample and test raw materials to determine appropriate functionality.


Undertake research and development (R & D) projects under the supervision of the line / project manager.


Use analytical techniques to analyse raw materials, finished products and report against agreed standard.



Innovation


Perform tasks required to test and trial ideas.



Data and Knowledge Management


Gather, consolidate, analyse and report data effectively using IT packages where applicable.



Applying Technology to the Business


Present technical information clearly and concisely.



Health and Safety


To observe Health & Safety regulations and follow guidelines and procedures in accordance with


COSHH, as stipulated by the company.


To maintain laboratories in a safe, tidy and clean manner.



What we need from you:

BSc Chemistry / Biochemistry / Analytical Chemistry or related subject


Good theoretical understanding of Chemistry or Biochemistry


Good laboratory practical skills


Good interpersonal skills – teamwork


Good organisational skills



Desirable


Previous experience of ELISA technique


Previous experience in accredited analytical laboratory


Understanding of food science
